UFO tuesday again yesterday

Here I am again with an update on my UFO piece. Worked a little on it yesterday but not as much as I really wanted to because I had to attend a meeting in the evening which lasted from 6-9 o´clock. But here is my progress this time, it is moving along slowly.

Here is where I was before:

Tuesday was UFO day

Today was a UFO day so I dug into my stitching box and found a project that has been lying there since September 5th, 2006. I´ve been stitching on this piece today and I think I´m made quite some progress. I plan to work on it every tuesday until it is done. I enjoy stitching on it, that is not the problem, I think the problem is that it is stitched on aida. I enjoy more stitching on linen or evenweave. This is called "The Postman" and is a kit from Dimension. I started this in April 2005 so it is about time to finish this off.

Here is a picture of it before today.

And this is the picture after finishing tonight.

Now I´ll keep it until next tuesday when I plan to work some more on this.

I´m going on a stitching weekend abroad

I´m sooooo excited about this event. I´ve been hanging out on the chat board at Jaynes Attic for quite a while and met a lot of wonderful ladies there. Jayne runs a wonderful stitching shop in England and she has a lot of great items in her shop. She is also wonderful to her customers. She teams up with Carol Tinson designer at Heirloom Embroideries every year for a stitchers meeting. This years event is taking place in Hull in England on May 12th and 13th and guess who is going............ :-) Carol is designing something exciting for this event and we all get to stay at a lovely hotel and stitch the weekend away, eating good food, making friends, and chatting away and just enjoying ourselves without being interrupted by husbands, boyfriends, children...........

I´ve spent some time last week getting my flight sorted out. I am flying to London on May 10th and coming back home on May 14th. I´ll arrive in London around lunchtime on thursday and stay the following night there. I´m planning to do a little (yeah right) shopping before leaving with the train to Hull on friday. I´ll be staying in Hull until sunday afternoon when I return to London with the train and stay there again for 1 night as I might have a little more shopping to do to fill up empty space in my suitcase. LOL And I´m coming back home late on monday evening. I´m getting so excited about this as I´m typing this. I´ve already booked the hotel in London so I´m almost all set to go.

This will be a sort of a graduation trip as I´ll just have finished my last course for finishing my degree at the University. And what better trip than this doing what I love to do. Do you know how to stop the butterflies fluttering around in my stomach..... LOL :-)

My Christmas present has arrived

I don´t think I´ve told you about my Christmas present from my husband. Over the last couple of years I´ve been wanting to do a pattern designed by Martina Weber in Germany also referred to as Chatelaine. I really love her projects and finally gave into the temptation and signed up for Mystery X just before Christmas. Her designs call for silks and metallics, Swarowsky crystals and Delica beads but she always gives out convertion for DMC threads too. I wanted to do this in silks and just the way she designs it. I knew my husband is always in trouble when it comes to getting an idea on my Christmas present so this time I went to him and asked him if he´d like me to take care of it and order what I really wanted. He was quite happy with that so I ordered the kit for Mystery X from Cindy at ECC. You can see the material list and picture of the materials here. The kit finally arrived a little more than week ago. I got started right away as the first part of the Mystery arrived on January 1st. This is a mystery in 12 parts and we get one part each month on the 1st. Stitching with the silks and the metallics was sooooo wonderful that I didn´t really want to stop for other things (but unfortunately I had to). However I managed to finish the first part last night and here is a picture of my work. I did put the beads on but I decided to leave the crystals until the end but you can imagine the crystals being put in the backstitched squares. Now I can´t wait for part 2 to be published.

Blogger is giving me a hard time

I´ve tried twice to send an update into my blog. And after writing all the exciting news blogger has thrown my posts away. So I´m going to put this into 3 posts this time and see what happens.

Last monday I met up with the girls from the Icelandic stitching group Allt i kross. It was great meeting up with everyone again especially as it had been a long time since I met them. I finished a little RR piece for Preeti in India while I was there. Here is a picture of the cute little angel.

Well, this wasn´t all I did on monday. I started a Lizzie Kate Blessing. This is a SAL that we are doing in the club Allt i kross. We are stitching one Blessing a month for the year 2007. Linda (the list mom) has translated the words into Icelandic so most of you won´t understand it. LOL Anyway, here is a picture of the first Blessing which I finished on tuesday.

I´m on a roll now

I´m here again with a new finish. I loved stitching this piece it went so quickly. The theme of this RR is Calendar of Pant. The patterns are designed by Sue Cook and can be found here. I decided to stitch this one because it is so cold and winter like over here and I long for some sunshine and warmth. This RR is stitched for Samantha in UK. Here is a picture.

Another finish

It´s been a few days but now I have another finish. Well not a complete finish as this is a SAL that I am working on. This is a Mystery SAL designed and published by Mary at Ozark Sampler. I´ve taken part in her two previous SAL´s and loved it but sadly I haven´t finished those two completely. :-( But this time I´m definately going to try to keep up with it. Here is the January part, looking great. The thread is hand dyed from Ozark Sampler and the fabric is hand dyed from Jayne at Jaynes Attic. This looks so pretty close up.

Today is a very special day because my daughter Jóhanna Brynja turned 1 year old today. I´ve been reminising about this day a year ago and am so grateful and happy that everything went well back then. Happy Birthday my sweet little girl. We are going to have a small birthday party for her on saturday with our family and friends coming over for cakes and coffee. It will be lovely.

I started my course at the Open University last monday so it is time to hit the books again but now I´m only doing one course instead of two last semester. This is my last course and if everything goes as planned I´ll graduate in the summer.

My next project will be a piece for a RR which will be a very quick stitch and then I´ll do a Lizzie Kate Blessing piece for a SAL with a group that I am a part of. More on that later.

Had to post this picture.

My husband was going through the Christmas pictures and found this one of our youngest daughter Jóhanna Brynja. She turns 1 year old on January 10th. She had her first encounter with the Santa Claus just before Christmas and this picture was taken then. I just love the look on their faces.

2nd finish of the year

Today I had a small HD stitching wise. I finished a RR piece for myself. This is intended to be a picture for my youngest daughter. I chose to stitch the pig and then I have patterns of a sheep, a hen and a cow. I am sure it will look very cute when it is finished. The designer is Joanne Sanderson and the pattern was published in Cross Stitcher Magazine Issue 181. I thought it looked so sweet. Here you can judge by yourself.

I don´t think I´ll be stitching more tonight but I´ll be back with pictures when I have more.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007

I want to start this post off by wishing you all and your families a Happy New Year and hope this year will be filled up with everything good. Hope your wishes and dreams come true and that you´ll see good health and happiness.

I´ve had a very good year so far. Spent last night with my family, no stitching last night but did catch up a little bit today with one finish. I finished off a RR piece that I was working on for Jeanne in UK. It was an Egyptian pattern and will make my first finish of 2007.

Here is a picture.

I plan on stitching some more tonight. I´m going to start another RR - this time it is a starter piece for myself that is due to be sent out on January 15th. It is a quick stitch and will be finished quickly. Will post a pic when it is done. Hope you´ll have a great day!
